The ban applies to travelers from six of the nation’s 11 states plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
The restriction covers travelers from Puerto Rico, New York, Texas, Maryland, Washington, California and Illinois.
The move came as a result of a lawsuit filed by Maryland Gov.
Larry Hogan (R), who called for the ban in April.
The suit says that the restrictions, which have been in place since March 20, are not necessary because the United States is a state.
Hogan has said the ban will allow Maryland to meet its obligations under the US Constitution and the travel ban is not intended to restrict travel.
The governor has not yet responded to a request for comment.
