An American tour guide was arrested on Sunday on a warrant from Hawaii for alleged involvement in a fraud scheme.
Police in Honolulu said the 38-year-old tourist from Florida, who has not been identified, had been charged with four counts of wire fraud and two counts of mail fraud.
He is being held on a $250,000 bail and is due to appear in court on Friday.
The tourist’s arrest comes a day after a police officer in Honolulu caught him trying to use an online travel booking service to book a trip to Hawaii, a US territory.
He had arranged to meet a woman and a man at a hotel on the island of Oahu.
He was arrested after he was spotted at the Waikiki hotel, which is owned by a group of local companies and was being used by other tourists to book accommodation, police said.
