CANADA – Travelers heading to Canada for the holidays should be aware that the Federal Government has banned most international flights to and from the U.S. and Canada, the Canadian government said on Monday.
The travel advisory was issued by Immigration Minister Chris Alexander and included a ban on all flights from the United States and Canada to the U of A, the University of Toronto, and the Université de Montreal.
This includes all domestic flights, domestic flights between Canada and the U-S., and international flights between the U and Canada.
Alexander said there are also restrictions on the ability of U.K. citizens to travel to Canada.
The ban covers all flights and is effective for travel to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
“These are all the major airports in the United State,” Alexander said at a news conference.
“We are issuing a travel warning to all international travelers.”
